Depositional environments and microfossil assamblages of the underlying and upperlying beds of the Upper Aptian emersion of the Tri jezerca quarry near Selina, Istria

Cilj ovog diplomskog rada je opisati taložne okoliše podinskih donjoaptskih plitkovodnih karbonatnih i krovinskih albskih transgresivnih karbonatnih naslaga gornjoaptske emerzije, te u njima odrediti taložne okoliše kao i sastav mikrofosilnih zajednica i njihovu starost. Također će se kratko opisati glavna obilježja gornjoaptske emerzije, tj. prekida taloženja kao važnog regionalnog događaja na Jadranskoj karbonatnoj platformi. Za potrebe ovoga rada korišteni su uzorci i podaci prikupljeni u kamenolomu Tri Jezerca u blizini mjesta Selina (sjeverno od ceste Kanfanar - Sv. Lovreč). Na temelju sedimentoloških i mikropaleontoloških rezultata terenskog i laboratorijskog rada (ukupno 60 uzoraka) izrađeni su detaljni geološki stupovi i utvrđena dva mikrofacijesa u podini i četiri u krovini. Na temelju mikrofosilne zajednice dokazana je starijeaptska starost podine i starijeaptska i albska/mlađealbska starost krovine. The aim of this thesis is to describe the depositional environments of the underlying Lower Aptian shallow-water carbonate and upperlying Albian transgressive carbonate deposits of the Upper Aptian emersion, and to determine the depositional environments as well as the composition of microfossil assemblage and their age. The main features of the Upper Aptian emersion will also be briefly described. Samples and data collected in the Tri Jezerca quarry near the town of Selina (north of the road Kanfanar - Sv. Lovreč) were studied for the purpose of this work. Based on the sedimentologic and micropaleontologic results of the field and laboratory work (a total of 60 samples), detailed geological columns were made and two microfacies were described in the underlying beds and four in the upperlying beds. Microfossil assemblage indicates the Early Aptian age of the underlying beds and the Early Aptian and Albian/Late Albian age for the upperlying beds.
