Abstract

A 1-day-old male infant is transferred to the neonatal intensive care unit with a large congenital skin defect of the inferior chest and abdomen extending in a butterfly distribution to the flanks (Figure 1). Figure 1. Well-demarcated butterfly-shaped lesion affecting skin, muscle, and fascia which spares the umbilicus.
