Abstract

Atmospheric pressure cold plasma jet is widely used in the fields of material processing, bio-medicine and so on, because of its remarkable advantages. To further ensure the safety and expand the dimensions of the plasma jet, a three-electrode plasma jet device is developed by embedding the inner floating electrode in commonly two outer electrode configuration based on DBD theory. In this paper, the inner floating electrode is in three different positions respectively. Based on this device using helium gas, it has been studied that the effects of different inner electrode positions on optical and electrical properties of the plasma jet. In order to explain and verify the experimental phenomena, this paper simulates electric field and flow field distribution in the dielectric tube by COMSOL and FLUENT. The three-electrode structure obviously changes the field intensity distribution in the discharge tube, which makes discharging easily. The experimental results show that the three-electrode plasma jet configuration is more suitable for practical treatment on murine melanoma cancer which can provide some information and reference for future plasma jet treatment of cancer.
