Monte Carlo Next-Event Estimates from Thermal Collisions

This paper reports on approximate method that is developed to allow S({alpha},{beta}) thermal collision contributions to next-event estimators in Monte Carlo calculations. The new technique is applicable to the more general problem of contributions to next-event estimators from any discrete probability distribution. The method is incorporated into the MCNP Monte Carlo radiation transport code.
