Abstract: We report a photoactivatable o-hydroxycinnamate–gemcitabine prodrug that shows an efficient drug release with real-time monitoring, and dose- and temporally-controlled photocytotoxicity upon visible (one-photon) or NIR (two-photon) light irradiation.
