Synthesis of Time-Modulated Rotationally Symmetric Circular Arrays

Abstract
- Time-modulated rotationally symmetric circular array (TMRSCA) is designed and synthesized in this paper. All the elements are distributed over the Q annular sectors and controlled by Q high speed RF switches, respectively. The element number in each annular sector, the specific time sequences, and the element positions are optimized by the improved harmony search (ImHS) algorithm for the sidelobe level (SLL) suppression at the operating frequency. An example is presented and the numerical results are compared with several previously published solutions, which illustrated the potential advantages of TMRSCA in time-modulated circular planar array design.
