Abstract

The paper presents the rutting test using cylinder specimen with flexible constraint on the basis of Chinas existing rutting tests. Through laboratory rutting tests by comparing the use of the rutting plate specimen and that of the cylinder specimen, it concludes that by the use of the latter, the specimen shape is easy to control, the variability of the rutting depth is small and the ability to distinguish asphalt mixture is equivalent to the test using the plate specimen, and proves the feasibility of using the cylinder specimen with flexible constraint to carry out laboratory rutting test.
