Abstract

Fractures associated with electrical injury are mainly caused by high voltage electricity. Electricity is able to damage tissue in many ways such as direct mechanical injury, heat production by the current, and muscle contraction. Spinal column fractures due to direct electrical shock are seen very rarely. When it is seen, it is mainly caused by a secondary event such as, falling after the shock. In this article, we presented a 49-year-old man who suffered from a very irritating low back pain after an accidental electrical shock. Investigations showed 12th thoracic compression fracture. Patients who apply to hospital, complaining about severe pain and with a history of electrical injury, have to be examined very detailed and required imaging have to be done to rule out the correct diagnosis.
