Abstract
- Ongoing register of experimental studies (randomized controlled trials, also called "experiments" and sometimes confused as "quasi-experimental studies") assessing the effects of reading comics or derivatives (such as mangas, graphic novels, manhwas, cartoons, strips, webcomics, fotonovelas, bandes dessinées, fanzines, webzines, digital comics, etc.). Includes searches, keywords, summaries of included studies, samples of the comics used, risk of bias assessments and more. In research jargon the methods used to maintain this register are akin to those of living systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials. PICOTS keywords: P = babies, children, youth, adolescents, adults, elderly people I = comics, comic books, storybooks, graphic novels, fotonovelas, mangas, manhwas, webcomics and derivatives C = no comics, different comic or derivative, text-only, brochure, leaflet, part of a comic O = any (knowledge, behavior change, attitude, recall, comprehension, trust, anxiety, satisfaction, mood, enjoyment, belief change, attitude change, intention change, motivation, screening uptake, etc.) T = any (seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, decades, etc.) S = Any setting (at home, in a classroom, in a waiting room, in a hospital, etc.) S = randomized controlled trials, rapid reviews, systematic reviews
