Abstract
- The associations of polymorphisms of the GSTM1 (del) and GSTP1 (Ile105Val) genes and smoking in a family with congenital malformations (CMs) in a newborn baby have been studied. The GSTM1 (del) and GSTP1 (Ile105Val) gene polymorphisms themselves are not associated with the risk of CMs in a newborn. However, smoking in a family may increase the risk significance of the GSTP1 (Ile105Val) genotypes in the formation of CMs in a child.
