Abstract

Genus Xhosacetus n. gen. TYPE SPECIES. — Xhosacetus hendeysi n. gen., n. sp., by present designation. ETYMOLOGY. — From Xhosa, one of the official languages of South Africa, characterized by prominent clicks (the word Xhosa itself starts with a click), somewhat reminiscent of the echolocative clicks produced by odontocetes, and from Latin "cetus", whale. Gender masculine.
