Abstract

Polyamide 11 (PA11) is one of bioplastics (plant-derived plastics or recyclable-resource-based plastics). It is produced from renewable castor seeds. The castor seeds are inedible. This point is important due to the future food insecurity. In order to increase Young’s modulus, in the present study, silica nanoparticles were added to PA11. The effects of the addition of silica nanoparticles and the surface treatment of nano silica particles on the stress-strain curves of PA11-based polymer composites at high strain rates were examined. After dynamic tensile tests, the fracture surfaces of the specimens were observed.
