Abstract
- The presence of small amount of calcium in the solution of crystallization of struvite-K crystals was studied using the different spectroscopic techniques, like SEM, FTIR and EDAX. It was found that, calcium ions transform the morphology of struvite-K crystals. However in FT-IR spectroscopy, as compared to undoped some OH vibrations as well as the four fundamental modes of vibrations band ν1, ν3, ν2, and ν4 was also observed in the spectrum of Ca2+ doped sample, but these vibrations are slightly shifted. The observed changes in the vibrations were due to the influence of additive ions. EDAX techniques is use to determine the percentage composition of elements present in the doped crystals. It revealed that the sample was of a mixed composition.
