Abstract
- Electronic government (e-government) is more than just deploying information technologies. It requires consideration of the various configurations and types of e-government implementation. The 2010 United Nations E-government Survey presented various roles for e-government in addressing the ongoing world financial and economic crisis. The Internet has already established its influence as the most powerful information-sharing medium in history, playing an immeasurable role in globalization, in the spread of democratization around the planet, in economic growth, and in education. The Korean-style e-government initiatives and information and communication technology (ICT) policies for building a nationwide high-speed communications network, building a single government portal, and integrating data into a single government data centre have seldom been found in other competing nations. The funds, which were managed by the Ministry of Information and Communication, was provided in the form of matching funds to each government branch for IT development projects and stimulated the incentive system for pursuing risk associated projects.
