Abstract: Restriction fragment length polymorphisms of factor VIII gene have been compared between man and chimpanzee. Sequences of the gene are conserved in primate evolution, and variable Bcl I and Bgl I alleles in man are fixed in the chimpanzee. A frequent Taq I polymorphism is described in the chimpanzee, corresponding to alleles fixed in man
