Abstract

Gas chromatographic identification of 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl ethers of aliphatic primary alcohols This paper summarizes the results obtained by the gas chromatographic identification of ten alkyl 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl ethers with alkyl chains in the range of C 1 —C 10 . As the best liquid phase polyglycerol can be recommended; the best column temperature is 130° for the C 1 –C 7 derivatives and 150° for the C 6 –C 16 derivatives. The relationship between the number of carbon atoms in the alkyl chain and the logarithm of the retention time is linear in the range of C 3 –C 16 .
