Abstract
- Based on the avalanche effect, an apparatus used for researching distribution characteristic of field in MV switchgear is designed in this paper. The principle and components of the apparatus are analyzed in detail. By setting up circuit for experiment and selecting parameters properly, a nanosecond pulse with rising edge time 10 ns and voltage amplitude 300mV is achieved. An antenna is introduced to radiate the nanosecond pulse. To study the distribution characteristic of field on the surface of the metal cladding, a precise model of switchgear is carried out by COMSOL. The experiment data show a good coincides with the simulation. The apparatus can be beneficial to offer guidance for the layout of partial discharge sensors.
