Abstract: The reactions of alkaloids having a 7,8-diol system — lycoctonine, browniine, and dihydromonticoline — with acetic anhydride and p-toluenesulfonic acid have been studied. The optimum conditions for this reaction, leading to anhydro compounds, have been found.
