In the transmission electron microscopy of small particles, an unknown amount of the matrix is often included in the analysis which falsifies the result obtained. A method is described which, by a regression relationship, permits the true chemical composition of the particles analysed to be deduced. In a system in which a number of precipitation phases may occur, it thus becomes possible to determine to which of the respective phases individual particles belong.
