PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS OF EMPEROR PETER I IN MODERN RUSSIAN LITERATURE

Abstract

The article deals with the image of the Russian monarch and greatstatesman Peter I, which (the image) is studied in the context of modern literature.To identify the image of the emperor, the publications presented in the ScientificElectronic Library (SEL) are analyzed in full, which contain an indication of PeterI in their titles. A total of 1117 works were selected. For automated (machine)analysis, fragments of texts related to the word “personality” and its correspondingsynonyms were selected in the general card file of collected publications. Theselection of synonyms is based on the method of constructing a vector space ofsemantic words (VSM).On the basis of the results obtained, the following main positions can be pointedout: in the domestic literature, in the general context of the texts, the psychologicalimage of Peter I is also presented; the personal image of the emperor is presentedwithin the framework of public activity, philosophical outlook, political image,personal characteristics, organizational and psychological assessments, socio-psychological manifestations, individual psychological qualities and physiologicalinclinations. The authors describe him as an extraordinary person, a tirelessreformer, a statesman who turned many of his ideas into reality, which contributedto the recognition of his authority and preservation in the people’s memory to thisday. At the present stage of historical development, all sorts of “gallery of polarportraits of the king” often merges into an integral, complexly organized image ofa person who is not always predictable.
