Abstract

The properties of phosphors under low voltage cathode ray excitation are investigated. High brightnesses and low threshold voltages have been obtained by the addition of non-luminescent conductive materials to various phosphors, and also by using photoconductive phosphors. It is shown that photoconductivity is also an important factor in addition to dark conductivity. Moreover it has been found that photoconductive Zn-gallate phosphors are effective for low voltage cathode ray excitation.
