Abstract: DC-DC converters are commonly used in power-conserving applications, like battery-operated equipment to regulate to a lower voltage, boost an input voltage or invert it to create a negative voltage. Efficiency is an important DC-DC converter characteristic as it may achieve efficiencies greater than 95% under optimum conditions. However, this efficiency is limited by dissipative losses in the components.
