Investigations on the preparation and electrochemical performance of the Li4Ti5O12/LiMn23/24Mg1/24PO4 full cell with a long lifespan

Abstract
- The Li4Ti5O12/LiMn23/24Mg1/24PO4 full cell, assembled from the Li4Ti5O12 anode via the PVP-assisted combustion method and from the high-voltage olivine LiMn23/24Mg1/24PO4/C cathode via the co-hydrothermal method, is promising for commercial applications. Its surface morphology, structure and performance were characterised through X-ray diffraction and standard electrochemical techniques. The operating voltage of the Li4Ti5O12/LiMn23/24Mg1/24PO4 full cell is 2.5 V, and it exhibits a high reversible capacity of 134.8 mAh g−1 at 0.05 C. Further, it retains 91.3%, 92.9%, 92.3%, 94.6% and 96.3% of the initial capacity after 100 cycles at 0.05, 0.1, 0.5, 1 and 2 C discharge rates, respectively, thus revealing excellent cycling stability. Consequently, the Li4Ti5O12/LiMn23/24Mg1/24PO4 full cell is promising for use as a power lithium-ion battery.
