Abstract

In this present works, the effect of triphenylphosphine (TPP) on the distribution of carbon layer and size of phosphorus-doped multi-wall carbon nanotubes (P-MWCNTs) were investigated by combination of transmission electron microscopy and image analysis. The P-WMCNTs were synthesized by direct liquid injection catalytic chemical vapor deposition with floating catalyst through decomposition of cyclohexane and triphenyl phosphine, in the presence of ferrocene catalyst on silicon wafer substrate. The change of increase and decrease by the layer thickness of P-MWCNTs was observed upon the increase of TPP concentration from 0.5, 1, to 2%. The findings exhibit that the doping source concentration on P-CMWCNTs synthesis affects catalytic activity the growth of graphitic layer, tube diameter distribution, homogeneity graphitic layer, and homogeneity in diameter distribution in the synthesized P-MWCNTs.
