Abstract

Electrical conductance of lithium perchlorate, sodium perchlorate, potassium perchlorate in pure N-methyl formamide have been measured at 298.15 K. Limiting molar conductance (Λo), association constants (KA) and co-sphere diameter (R) for ion-pair formation have been examined by using Fuoss conductance equation. Viscosity B-coefficient, apparent molar volume ( ϕ V ) and apparent molar adiabatic compressibility ( ϕ K ) have been achieved from viscosity ( η ), density ( ρ ) and speed of sound (c) measurements respectively. The limiting apparent molar volume ( ϕ V 0 ) and experimental slope ( S V * ) have been interpreted in terms of ion–solvent and ion–ion interactions respectively. The viscosity data have been analysed using Jones–Dole equation and derived parameters A and B represent ion–ion and ion–solvent interactions respectively. The c values have been used to determine adiabatic compressibility ( β S ) and limiting apparent molar adiabatic compressibility ( ϕ K 0 ).
