Growth of C60 crystals from the vapor phase

Single crystals of the fullerene C 60 were grown by the Pizzarello method in an argon atmosphere. The growth in a cone was investigated as a function of the drive rate. The binary diffusion coefficient was estimated from the difference between the drive rate and crystal growth velocity. The critical supersaturation was evaluated from the maximum crystal length which appeared in the stage of resublimation if the drive direction was changed.
