Abstract
- The effect of F content on the structure, high-temperature viscosity and dielectric properties was investigated in a borosilicate glass system with SiO2-Al2O3-B2O3-RO-TiO2. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) served to study glass structural changes through peak fitting calculations. The results showed that the addition of F from 0.26 wt% to 0.63 wt% promoted the conversion of the network outer body [BO3] into [BO4] and [AlO6] into [AlO4] during the melting cooling period. The increase of bridging oxygen enhances the integrity of the network structure and improves the dielectric performance at ambient temperature. In the high-temperature stage, the introduction of an appropriate amount of F decrease the viscosity of the liquid, which is beneficial to the homogenization, refining and drawing operations. These results could help elucidate the changes in properties of glass on the addition of F.
