Computer modelling of sputtering processes

Sputtering of Cu and other bcc and fcc metal crystals due to Ar ion bombardment is studied. The results obtained by a computer model using two-body interactions governed by Bohr-type interatomic potential are given. The applicability of the hard sphere collision approximation is also proved, and dependence of the collision cross section on the atomic number of the target crystal is studied by this model.
