Abstract

Vapor pressure osmometric results on dodecylpyridinium iodide reversed micelle in dry benzene (containing 0.03% w/w water), which lead to an equilibrium description of the system, are discussed. This information in turn, together with spectrophotometric results, is used for the interpretation of the pressure-jump kinetics of the solubilization of 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane by the micelle. Details of the solubilization mechanism are discussed, and numeric values of equilibrium concentrations, rate and equilibrium constants, and the activation energy of solubilization are reported. 20 references.
