Abstract

In this paper, fly ash after chemical modification was applied into the adsorption process on Cr(III). The operation conditions in modification process, such as concentration of modification solution, time, temperatures, dosage of fly ash and so on, were analyzed to optimize the characteristics of modified fly ash, qualitativly indicated by the removal capacity on Cr(III). The achievements indicated that as an acceptable adsorbent, especially after chemical modification, the internal structure characteristics of fly ash was more benefit for Cr(III) removal. Operation conditions of modification could finally affect removal capacity on Cr(III) to some extent, which should be seriously considered. The results were helpful for adsorption mechanism investigation, and more important in practical application.
