Abstract

The Council on Medical Student Education in Pediatrics (COMSEP) is the national group of the clerkship directors of the North American medical schools. Its 2005 annual meeting was held in Greensboro, NC, April 7 through 10, 2005. The mission of COMSEP is to foster excellence in pediatric undergraduate education and thus to improve the health care of children in North America. The theme for this year was "Releasing the Imagination: Encountering the Arts in Education." We had 2 plenary speakers, 2 extended preconference workshops (1 on "Qualitative Research" and 1 for new clerkship directors), and 20 other workshops on a wide range topics in medical student education and the arts in medicine. A special tribute session was also given to honor our friends, mentors, and colleagues, Richard T. Sarkin, MD, and Steven Z.
