Self-focusing in a nematic liquid crystal for measurements of wavefront distortions

Abstract
- We examine the idea to use self-focusing in a non-linear liquid crystal to increase the accuracy of measurements of wavefront distortions with an active Shack–Hartmann sensor. This modification should improve the measurement accuracy by two orders of magnitude.
