Abstract

The study aims to investigate the effect of sclera size on social evaluation of human faces. Participants will be presented with human faces that have either small or big exposed sclera size, and they will be asked to rate the faces on four different dimensions (trustworthiness, sociality, attraction, and social rank) using a Likert scale of 1-10. The study employs an experimental design with a within-subjects approach and pseudo-randomized trials, meaning that each participant will evaluate both sets of faces, and the order of presentation will be randomized to control for any order effects. The human faces stimuli used in this study were provided by the Chicago Faces Database and were digitally modified (the eye region) to fit our intended purposes. The results of the study will provide insight into how sclera size influences social evaluations of faces.
