Abstract
- The paper presents the fish collections retrieved in the site of Santa Catalina. The results from this analysis are explored in terms of the Richness, Diversity, Equitability and Trophic level values of the 61 archeological levels that span from the Upper Magdalenian (15 ky cal BC) to the Azilian (10 ky cal BC). These results are discussed within the frame of theoretical proposals on the origin and evolution of prehistoric fishing in the Cantabrian region, and evidence that some of these proposals appear to be in need of revision.
