Abstract

This paper presents the Single-Phase AC-AC Matrix Converter that using 4-units of the bidirectional switches as main power switching devices. This converter can be converted the utility 1-phase sinusoidal supply voltage into a variable voltage of the PWM pattern by adjusting the switching frequency of the control signal and modulation index of the PWM signals. The modulation indexes are 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, and 1.0 and the output voltages are 12.5Hz, 25Hz, 50Hz, and 100Hz. The waveforms of the voltages and the currents of the single-phase AC-AC matrix converter for the simulation result with MATLAB/Simulink program and the experimental result are observed with the passive loads. Moreover, the efficiency is measured.
