Abstract

28th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition; 3424-3427<br />We developed a new method of maximum power point tracking, which can calculate new operation voltage corresponding to the maximum power point after an abrupt change in solar irradiance. The method is deduced based on a photovoltaic model with appropriate approximation. The new operation voltage is calculated only using a ratio of current before and after an abrupt change in solar irradiance without any additional hardware. We confirmed that the method can get to the maximum power point from several to fifteen times faster than a conventional hillclimbing method.
