Abstract

A new multilevel inverter is proposed in this paper, in which the capacitor and transformer are employed to generate the high voltage levels compared to the used elements. In this proposed structure, only one DC source and transformer are used. In the extended structure, only the number of capacitors and switches is increased as a result the costs are reduced and implementation is simplified. In order to evaluate pros and cons of the proposed inverter, first it is compared to the conventional transformer-based structures, and then its performance is evaluated through simulation in MATLAB by considering a 9-level configuration.
