Abstract

We investigated $^{206}\mathrm{Hg}$, the missing link for particle-vibration coupling studies around $^{208}\mathrm{Pb}$. In $^{18,17}\mathrm{O}$ induced reactions on $^{204}\mathrm{Hg}$ we identified $\ensuremath{\gamma}$ rays from states at 1.068 and 2.102 MeV in $^{206}\mathrm{Hg}$. Relying on theoretical arguments we propose spins ${2}^{+}$ and ${4}^{+}$, respectively.
