Abstract
- Sugar is appreciated to function as a signaling molecule by controlling gene expression, thereby regulating various developmental processes in plants. We screened sucrose-insensitive (sin) mutants in Arabidopsis that showed normal germination and seedling development under high concentration (438 mM) of sucrose. Compared to wild-type and other sugar mutants, sin mutants seedlings exhibited resistance to high glucose, high salt, and paclobutrazol, inhibitor of gibberellin biosynthesis. We discuss the unique characteristics of these sin mutants in this report.
