Abstract
- The purpose of this paper is to argue that belief in God is an essential prerequisite of any coherent version of Christianity, and that the crisis of faith experienced today has no chance of being overcome unless and until God is placed once again at the forefront of the Church’s thinking and teaching. All other questions of belief are in the end of secondary and derivative importance. The primary theological task facing the Christian thinker is to determine whether or not it is reasonable to believe in God and what concepts of God can be reconciled with the rest of our religious and secular thinking.
