Abstract
- Research in social computing has provided a number of ways to engage people in collective endeavors, from collective mapping and encyclopedia-writing to localized support and personalized appeals. This talk reviews a variety of social computing research with an eye towards application in E-Democracy and E-Government. How can governments use the techniques and lessons of this research to better engage citizens? How can citizens organize themselves to better influence and support regional and national governments?
