Abstract

Shaping field intensity in target areas is a challenging problem in electromagnetics. Most of the existing methods can realize a certain type of field like plane wave field and focusing field. In this paper, we present an array design and control approach for shaping the field intensity to different patterns without dependence on precise control of phase. At the same time, the excitation parameters of array can be theoretical calculated according to target distribution of field intensity. We have studied the tricorn distributions in a 1-D target area. The results of theoretical calculation and full-wave simulation demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
