Abstract

The mass media offer many avenues of escape from the pressures of every day life. The study reported here was an attempt to discover whether highly frustrated children seek active fantasy lives by spending more time watching television. The author found that the relationship between frustration and viewing varied with social class. Eleanor Maccoby is a Lecturer in Social Psychology at Harvard University.
