Abstract

SynopsisInjuries were inflicted on the hybrid grain sorghum RS 610 by clipping at several positions on the plant during six stages of plant growth. Clipping increased the number of branches developing from above-ground buds (side branches). Head weight, total dry matter per plant, and grain yields were reduced by clipping. Test weights were lowered by clipping except where one half or the tips of the head were removed, in which cases they were slightly higher than the control.
