Mixed-logic Dynamic Optimization Applied to Configuration and Sequencing of Batch Distillation Processes

This paper treats an approach for configuring equipment and sequencing of complex batch distillation processes based on mixed-integer dynamic optimization. We propose a logic-based modeling technique and an algorithm tailored to this class of problems and apply the approach to the design of a simple multistage batch distillation process.
