Abstract

Magneto-structural correlations in Cu(en) 2 Pt(CN) 4 (en = C 2 H 8 N 2 ) have been investigated by experimental studies of the magnetic properties and hydrogen bond geometry. The analysis of electron paramagnetic resonance spectra confirmed the d 2 z electronic ground state of Cu(II) ion expected from room temperature X-ray measurements. Magnetization and susceptibility data indicate the presence of weak exchange coupling J/k B = -0.4 K. Consequently, a spin diffusive regime in the spin relaxation can be expected at 4 K, and the angular dependence of the linewidth can be qualitatively explained by considering two-dimensional magnetic behaviour.
