Abstract

The palladium complexes [PdCl2{Ph2P(CH2)nPPh2}] (n=1, 3, 4) react with the bi- and tri-valent metal diethyldithiocarbamates [M(S2CNEt2)2] (M=Zn, Cd, Hg, Pb) and [Mn(S2CNEt2)3] in cold dichloromethane solution to afford salts of the general form [Pd(S2CNEt2){Ph2P(CH2)nPPh2}]2[MCl4] in almost quantitative yield. X-ray crystal structures are reported for the salts [Pd(S2CNEt2){Ph2P(CH2)nPPh2}]2[MCl4] (n=1, 4; M=Cd: n=3, M=Hg). Structural parameters, IR and NMR spectroscopic data for these salts are compared with similar data previously reported for salts of the related cation [Pd(S2CNEt2){Ph2P(CH2)2PPh2}]+.
