Abstract
- The massive expansion of world trade has been one of the most important occurrences in postwar economic history. In comparison to the rest of the world, Indian trade increased slowly but steadily from 1950 to 1980. The Indian government began a series of reforms in mid-1991 to liberalize and globalize the Indian economy. Since1991, India's economy has pursued a liberalization program. International trade is a critical strategic tool for a country's economic success. As a result, India has shifted away from inward-looking economic policies in order to compete in the global economy (Ratna & Kallummal, 2013). The current article focuses on India's new strategic participation in international trade through free trade agreements (FTAs) and regional trade agreements (RTAs).
