ChemInform Abstract: One-Pot Synthesis of Substituted Isoindolin-1-ones via Lithiation and Substitution of N′-Benzyl-N,N-dimethylureas

Lithiation of ureas (I) and (VI) followed by quenching with various electrophiles, such as aldehydes (II), ketones (IV) and alkyl halides (VII) affords the corresponding 3-substituted isoindolin-1-ones (III), (V), and (VIII), respectively, in good yields.
