Abstract
- The design of an X-ray source based on Compton backscattering of CO2 laser and 100 MeV electron beam is introduced. This instrument can produce 8-18 keV X-ray and will be installed as a prototype for the Shanghai Laser Electron Gamma Source (SLEGS) at the end of 2007. Some detailed descriptions for the related instruments are presented. The related simulation results are provided and discussed. The backgrounds from the dipole magnet of the 100 MeV LINAC and bremsstrahlung of the 100 MeV electrons are also estimated. Due to the large power of the employed CO2 laser, the expected flux of X-ray will be able to achieve the order of 106 s(-1), and the corresponding signal-noise ratio is about 10(6).
